About CBM

CBM International is working in 63 countries around the world to transform lives.  With this significant network and extensive global knowledge base, it was decided to establish a strong presence in South Africa, able to represent the interests of the people of the country, and help to provide a voice for South Africans with disabilities.
In developing countries, people living with disability are often unable to access basic rights and services such as education and healthcare, and are often excluded from employment, and social and community activities and South Africa is no exception. CBM South Africa aspires to address the critical challenges faced by South Africans with disabilities, in both urban and rural settings, with a strong focus on rural communities.

An inclusive nation

Established in 2011, CBM South Africa (CBM SA) is the newest member Association of the international CBM family. Driven by its vision of  'an inclusive nation in which people with disabilities enjoy equality, dignity, services, access to opportunities and achieve their full potential', CBM SA is committed to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities in the poorest communities of South Africa.

Strategic goals

  • People with disabilities have equal access to services
  • People with disabilities know and exercise their human rights
  • People with disabilities are included in the social, economic and political life of their communities
  • Development partners mainstream disability
