Who We Are
CBM South Africa was established in 2011, applying the international movement’s accumulated expertise and knowledge to improve the lives of South Africans with disabilities.
The organisation creates sustainable change and improves lives of people with disabilities in South Africa through creating partnerships with disability service organisations, offering strategic advisory services, and influencing policy to break down barriers and misconceptions about disability.
Our Work
The organisation works with rural communities, currently specifically in the Eastern Cape, supporting community disability workers (CDWs). These dedicated individuals visit people with disabilities to facilitate rehabilitation and help families to manage relationships and the practicalities of caring for a person with a disability.
CBM SA is also working on increasing its activities, with plans to support rural eye-care clinics and to provide resources to schools for children with disabilities.

Poverty and disability go hand in hand creating a cycle of inequality, isolation and exclusion that leads to the most extreme forms of poverty.
